Slack

Connect Slack to include team discussions in your specifications.

Slack adds team context to your specifications. If someone already discussed the error in a channel, that conversation gets included.

Connecting

Go to Connectors → Add Connector → Slack → Connect with Slack. You'll be redirected to Slack to authorize access. The following user scopes are requested:

  • search:read — search messages across your workspace
  • channels:history — read message history in channels
  • channels:read — list channels and view channel info

What gets searched

During an agent run, SpecSource searches Slack for:

  • Messages mentioning the error, affected component, or related keywords
  • Full threads from matching messages (not just the first message)

This is especially useful when someone already investigated the issue or discussed a workaround but never wrote it down in a spec.
